Afghan Kazak Rugs
Afghan kazak style rugs are the traditional floor coverings of the nomadic peoples in the area of Afghanistan and Pakistan. They are known as "tribal" rugs.
Afghan Kazak rugs are typically constructed with a wool or cotton base and wool pile. Hand spun Afghan wool is mainly used and coloured vibrantly with vegetable-based dyes in red, brown, blue and white.
The designs of traditional Afghan Kazak rugs tend to be geometric and bold, however, in recent times there may also be some that mimic the floral motifs and medallions of Persian rugs. Finer rugs boast designs that are Caucasian.
